On Sunday 3rd September Lil Wayne was rushed to hospital after suffering several seizures that rendered him unconscious. According to TMZ, the New-Orleans rapper apparently had another seizure in the hospital, and the doctors refused to discharge him to attend an event later that night. Currently, the rapper is recuperating, on a 2-weeks mandatory rest, from 5th September to his show on 23rd September to gain strength for the coming months on the road.
The rappers management team claims that the seizures are due to his busy work schedule, but most people think it’s his sizzurp abuse. Lil Wayne is known to hit the stage and go back to the studio up to wee hours of the morning, and this, according to his team, was likely the cause of his seizures.
It’s not the first the rapper has suffered seizures. Back in July 2016, the New Orleans rapper suffered three seizures in just one month. In 2012 and 2013 the rapper also had seizures, and this has caused a lot of concern over his current health.
Most people are speculating that the occurrences are due to the lean he drinks. Lean also called sizzurp, or purple drank is a drug made by mixing high doses of cough syrups with has codeine and promethazine with soft drinks such as Sprite and adding Jolly Rancher candy to make it sweet.
Lil Wayne on a TV interview admitted to being epileptic and wanting to stop the drinking of sizzurp. However; the rapper continues to drink the sizzurp and fans are more worried about the New Orleans rapper’s life. Apparently, the drug is too addictive to stop, on top of being highly lethal.
The New Orleans rapper has never attributed his seizures to the drug. Instead, he maintains that epilepsy is in the
family and his mother told him that he had a seizure when he was young. But at the time they did not know it was epilepsy.
After the incident, her daughter took to twitter to assure his fans; she wrote, ‘My dad is doing fine.’ And later Reginae Carter added that “Oh yeah….don’t believe everything you hear.
Ty Dolla $ign’s, a popular rapper, when asked by TMZ, to comment on sizzurp, said ‘Lean is dead.’
Let’s hope that the rapper will continue taking his medication and maintain a healthy lifestyle free from drugs.
