At this point, the cause of his death is still unknown.
MF DOOM ( real name Daniel Dumile) is known for performing behind a supervillain mask and normally likes to keep his private life hidden. He decided to change that with a very public tribute to his deceased 14-year-old son:
“KING MALACHI EZEKIEL DUMILE 2/22/03 – 12/18/17 THE GREATEST SON ONE COULD ASK FOR, SAFE JOURNEY AND MAY ALL OUR ANCESTORS GREET YOU WITH OPEN ARMS. ONE OF OUR GREATEST INSPIRATIONS. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING US TO BE YOUR PARENTS. LOVE YOU MALI.”
MF DOOM’S last released solo album was 2009’s Born Like This, although rumor has it that he’s been preparing for a formal re-entrance into the rap game this year.
The underground hip-hop rapper is supremely talented and has released some of the most unique collaboration projects to ever hit the industry.
If MF DOOM isn’t already on your radar, you’ll want to check these out-
Madvilliany ( MF DOOM + Mad Lib) 2004
The Mouse and the Mask ( MF DOOM + DJ Danger Mouse) 2005
Key To The Kuffs ( MF DOOM + Jneiro Jarel) 2012
NehruvianDoom ( MF DOOM + Bishop Nehru) 2014
WestsideDOOM ( MF DOOM + Westside Gun) 2017
And while his collabs are sick, what’s even more interesting about MF DOOM is that he produced all his own beats on his 6 solo albums, and 7 instrumental albums ( special herbs vol. 1-10).
Here’s volume 1 of special herbs for your listening pleasure.
Another thing we love about MF DOOM is his creativity and originality. Because his rap persona is based on the comic book supervillain “Dr. Doom”, he’ll often interlace completely fabricated events with things that actually happened in his life:
Villain get the money like curls
They just tryin’ to get a nut like squirrels in his mad world
Land of milk and honey with the swirls
Where reckless naked girls get necklaces of pearls
Compliments of the town jeweler
Left back now-schooler tryin’ to sound cooler
On the microphone known as the crown ruler
Never lied to ma when we said we found the moolah
Five-hundred somethin’ dollars layin’ right there in the street
Huh, now let’s try and get somethin’ to eat
Then he turned four and started flowin’ to the poor
That’s about when he first started going raw
Kept the ‘dro in the drawer
A rhymin’ klepto who couldn’t go up in the store no more
Other times, he’ll make fun of cliches in the rap world.
Beef rap, could lead to getting teeth capped
Or even a wreath for ma dukes on some grief crap
I suggest you change your diet
It can lead to high blood pressure if you fry it
Or even a stroke, heart attack, heart disease
It ain’t no starting back once arteries start to squeeze
Take the easy way out phony, until then
They know they wouldn’t be talking that baloney in the bullpen
To all rappers: shut up with your shutting up
And keep your shirt on, at least a button-up
Yuck, is they rhymers or strippin’ males?
Out of work jerks since they shut down Chippendales
It seems like most of the lyrical creativity of old-school rap has been replaced by rappers just flexing on their audiences.
” Your house could fit in my garage”.
“Speaking of garages, there’s 6 Lamborghinis in mine”.
” And speaking of Lamborghinis, your girlfriend just blew me in one”.
We get it- you make lots of money and have a codeine addiction. What will MF Doom say about the rappers of 2018?
We hope to find out soon.
