Migos announced the news via instagram, and are telling fans their asses better find the remotes buried in their couch cushions so they can turn on the T.V and watch them March 3rd on SNL!
NBC confirmed the news via their own Instagram account. This will be the first SNL since the hiatus it took for the Winter Olympics and it looks like it’s going to be a great night. We’ve got NBA legend Charles Barkley hosting and obviously- some amazing music too.
Over the past few years, Migos has started to shape the trap genre with their signature triplet flow, combined with autotune accents.
Now, they’re introducing new sounds with Culture 2- but it’s still the same Migos.
“Club rocking. The beat, the bass is everything. We’re not really a slow-down artist. It’s light, it’s fun, it’s lit.” “It’s still trap,””We got a little funkier. It’s not all the way funk. There’s still a Migos vibe.” “Even if it’s some gangsta shit, trap shit, the bitches got to like it,”
Migos explores new territory with their tune “Narcos.”
Lyrics like “trapping like a narco” and “getting dope like Pablo” are typical migos lyrics, but the beat is what really stands out. Quavo and DJ Durel give us a meringue trap ballad beat and instead of revolving around a typical bell pattern, the beat is driven by a lush Spanish guitar.
Really all of the experimentations in Culture II are small ones. They still flex on their audience, and use a similar vocal delivery. But it’s the instrumentals that really add a new flavor to the music.
- “Notice Me” feat Post Malone is a ballad ( Migos doesn’t do ballads).
- In “too playa” they introduce a sax sample, introducing a jazz feeling that normally would never stick its head into trap.
But getting back to this upcoming SNL performance- they’ve got one job to do, and that’s to make sure that Katy Perry doesn’t come on stage.
Go to 2:40 to see some of the most awkward dancing you’ve ever witnessed in your life.
Fans roasted Katy’s off pitch vocal performance and terrible attempts to do hiphop dancing. And let’s not forget about when she handed them a fruit at the end of the performance. The whole thing was just cringe worthy.

Sorry Katy. We love you , but that dancing was too hilarious not to call out.
Stay tuned for Migos next SNL performance on March 3rd!
