The Canadian singer, PartyNextDoor, whose real name is Jahron Brathwaite, has been allegedly arrested for possession of drugs while en route to New York. This is according to WIVB reports that the 24-year-old was arrested on the 5th of October in the morning around 9:30am, along with his friend Jerome Nevins, also 24 years old.
The duo was arrested after the United States Customer, and Border personnel had called the New York State Troopers to assist with the inspection of the drugs. This secondary inspection was carried out when the bus which PartyNextDoor was riding with had been stopped when entering the United States, just at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge.
The arrest is specified as the seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Upon apprehension, it was found that PND was in possession of Xanax and Oxycodone, whereas his co-accused was in possession of Xanax only. They were then issued with return tickets that are returnable to the Town of Lewiston Court where they will face the charges. Reports were not clear as to when will be the exact day for their appearance in court for the duo.
Just late last month, PartnextDoor has released the Seven days EP to his fans. His next tour was scheduled for North America. On the 6th of October, yesterday, he was supposed to tour to Boston that precede the 3 more tours in Canada, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver next month. Following his alleged arrest, there is no clarity if the tour will still proceed or the charges will supersede.
On the 13th of October, PND is scheduled to perform at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The following day he will be supposed to play at the Prudential Center in Newark. Also, these upcoming events are not clear if they can be affected by the recent arrest or not. More details are pending regarding their next court appearance.
