C-Murder has been behind bars for the past seven years at the Angola Prison. He was convicted of opening fire at a club in Baton Rouge back in 2001. Now, he is about to have some significant amount of money due to the release of new music and promotions of his records on social media. However, the victims of the shooting are requesting for the money to be seized as the rapper has yet to pay them.
The Louisiana based rapper opened fire at Club Raggs in Baton Rouge. It happened after the bouncer at the club padded him down before entrance. He allegedly tried to shoot the bouncer and he was hindered because the gun was malfunctioning. The victims of the shooting then filed a lawsuit against him and he was ordered to pay $80,000. These included the bouncer he tried to shoot, the owner of the club, bartender, manager and a club goer. The amount he owes them now stands at $150,000 thanks to the accumulated interest over the years.
With the release of the records and the little bit success he is seeing, the attorneys for the victims filed a motion that he still has enough money to pay the victims using his released music on Amazon and iTunes. Even behind bars, he has been actively involved in releasing music. In 2016, he collaborated with Boosie BadAzz and released a project called Penitentiary Chances. The question rose as to how he was able to record music. The Louisiana Department of Corrections is investigating this notion but the rapper says that all of the material was recorded before he was sent to prison. It is only now that it is being officially released.
His prison time is not because of this incident from Club Raggs. He is serving life without parole for killing a teenager named Thomas back in 2002.This fatal shooting happened at Harvey nightclub where he shot the fan. Even though there is no way he could have recorded music behind bars, only the ongoing investigation will prove if that was indeed the case.
His music is getting considerable success as he was once a famous and very well liked rapper. His fans still perhaps want to listen to his records and that is exactly why the new releases are getting the hype. However, it is not clear at the moment if he will be able to enjoy the success of the music with some money. If the judges decide, the money he makes through these projects could very well end up with the victims he owes a lot of money to.
For now we do not know if he indeed has ample money to pay off the debt or the new music would be enough to achieve that. Miller’s attorney has not responded yet and his manager and the record company have not officially released any information about his earnings.
